Berkeley Minimum Wage will Increase Oct. 1

Berkeley California now joins Oakland, Emeryville and San Francisco by increasing the city wide minimum wage.

The minimum wage for employees in the city of Berkeley will increase to $11 per hour on October 1 — $2 more than the current state minimum wage of $9 per hour.

This is the second in a set of three increases. On October 1, 2016, the minimum wage will increase to $12.53.

All employers regardless of where they are located, must pay the Berkeley minimum wage to their employees who perform at least two hours of work in Berkeley.

If you have employees that work in Berkeley, visit the Berkeley Minimum Wage Ordinance website for more information, including answers to frequently asked questions and the required posting.
